Season 4 Breaking Bad Recap

As we all know, now, Walt is not the sweet, innocent guy he once was. In the season 4 finale of Breaking Bad. We find Walt responsible for poisoning Brock with the berries from his Lily of the Valley plant and blaming the event on Gus in order to get Jesse's cooperation in killing him. We also know that Walt orchestrated Gus' death using none other than Hector, (and his annoying little bell) by rigging a bomb to Hector's wheelchair and giving Gus a reason to visit the nursing home by letting him think that Hector had spoken with Hank and the DEA.

I'll never be able to shake the image of Gus walking out of Hector's room after the blast, straightening his tie. As the camera pans to Gus' front, we discover that Gus is indeed gravely injured, Half his face had been blown off in the bombing and he looks like he should be starring in an episode of The Walking Dead as a zombie, instead of Breaking Bad.

Breaking Bad creator, Vince Gilligan has stated that Walt, Jesse and the rest of the cast won't be back for a sixth season, which means that Season 5 will be the end of the series. How can they wrap up all the twists and turns of Breaking Bad in one season? I don't know. I've read that AMC has ordered 16 episodes for next year (instead of the usual 13) after there was talk about the show moving to another network.

I'm going to make some predictions about next season. Take them with a grain of salt. As we know, anything can happen on Breaking Bad and usually does.

Here are my Top 5 Season 5 Breaking Bad Predictions

Feel free to add your predictions below.

What Happens Next on Breaking Bad?

Breaking Bad returns in July of 2012 for 16 episodes.
Breaking Bad returns in July of 2012 for 16 episodes.

My Top 5 Breaking Bad Predictions

1.) There are still loose ends to contend with on Breaking Bad. Mike is still in Mexico recovering from gunshot wounds and doesn't know yet that Gus was killed. With Mike out of the bad guy business, he'll have to get a real job to make ends meet. I see Mike going to work being the new grouchy manager of Los Pollos Hermanos and turning it into AMC's first comedy spinoff series called, Mike.

2.) Hank is getting way too close to finding out that his brother in law is the one and only, Heisenberg. It's time for Hank to either get killed, or to get on board in the family meth business. Think about what having an informant in the DEA could do for business. I think it would be a good move to see Hank break bad. Knowing what he knows, he could be the show's greatest villain, yet!

3.) Marie gets caught outside of Kmart with a carriage full of DVD's and clothing she shoplifted from the store. Hank gets disgusted and doesn't save her this time, so she gets arrested and calls Skyler for help. Guess who gets her off on a technicality? Everyone's favorite sleazebag attorney, Saul Goodman.

4.) I see Skyler and Saul having an affair. They are two people with no respect for each other, so them dating on the side would add a bit of comic relief and drama at the same time. Saul won't survive the end of the season,.. I see him being assassinated in a motel room with Skyler. Not by Walt, but by Walter Jr., who uses a gun he steals from his Uncle Hank.

5.) How will the series end? Walt's cancer returns, only to kill him rapidly. I also see Jesse being assassinated, but I'm not sure who does it. It's Breaking Bad. It won't end happy, but it will be a ride we'll never forget. That much is certain.

What do you see for the future of Breaking Bad?

I don't see it ending happily either, but it's going to be a wild ride to the end.

Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for the comment. I agree 100%. It's going to be something. Too bad we have to wait until next July to find out what happens...

mr.t 7 months ago

Your predictions are a joke...I'm assuming. I think Mike will go after Walter after he finds out what he's done with Gus and him, Walter and Co. will all team up and make meth...since that's is what the whole show is about.

rockinjoe profile image

rockinjoe Hub Author 7 months ago

you assume correctly.....

The only thing with Mike coming back is, he has no power over Walter and Jesse without Gus. Why should they let him back in?

mr. t 7 months ago

to rockinjoe: Mike is an enforcer/pro...they need muscle. Mike also has a lot of connections.

Jessie and Mike also hit it off. I expect Hank will put things together and start suspecting Walt. He won't believe it at first, but toward the end of the season he will figure it out.

If Walt dies...there are some possibilities:

His cancer returns.

Jessie and Mike turn on him.

Hank kills Walt...I'm assuming if this happens...Walt will be in disguise..a mask...something and Hank will discover he killed his brother in law..."the great Heisonberg"

"Hank kills Walt...I'm assuming if this happens...Walt will be in disguise..a mask...something and Hank will discover he killed his brother in law..."the great Heisonberg"

That's genius, I'd love that!

Dave 6 months ago

Actually, I could seriously see Hank being tempted to "break bad" at some point. It won't just be a surprise killing of Walt--he'll need to contemplate it all first.

Why would he contemplate it? Proud DEA agent that paid his medical bills with meth money could be a recipe for wanting to hide Heisenberg's true identity.

Do I think that's likely? No, but it's possible.

james 5 months ago

Walts cancer is going to return full force and send him on a downward spiral. Hank is going to find out walt has been the one behind everything while walt is in the hospital dying. hank is going to have to make the decision of his life. whether to bust walt for murder, drug manufacturing and distribution, while he's on his death bed. or to keep it to himself and allow his brother in-law to die in peace. without ruining his name.

rockinjoe profile image

rockinjoe Hub Author 5 months ago

Great ideas. Anyone of them would work for me. I'd still like to see Hank break bad. A lot of people seem to think that it's going to come down to a showdown between Hank and Walt, with Hank gunning down his brother in law. I'd like to see it the other way by Walt taking out Hank. Walt is the hero of the show after all and if he dies, it will be a real downer.

Zackariah 5 months ago

geez really? Walt dying in the end would be the only viable way to end the series. He's in remission, but the cancer could come back, and this time it could be terminal. He could be given mere months to live.

Hank wouldn't shoot Walt, no way Jose. If anything, Jesse will shoot Walt when he finds out Walt was responsible for Jane's death, and Hank will put a bullet through Jesse's head right away. After this, the entire operation will be pinned on Jesse, he will be declared as the real Heisenberg, and Saul will finally arrange for Skyler, Walt Jr., and Hollie to disappear forever in Colorado, as has been foreshadowed before. DEA will declare hank as a hero, and he will get his promotion to Washington DC, which he has wanted for so long.

THE END!

Thanks for the comment, Zackariah. I know this discussion is going to get bigger as Breaking Bad comes back in 2012. Lots of people I've spoken with who are fans of the show claim Walt will die (either through his cancer, or some violent means) but I'm still big on Walt surviving this one.

Whatever ends up happening, I can't believe we're coming up on the final season. I'm going to miss this show.

Breaking Wind 5 months ago

Joe, very funny but you and the other readers are way off. Have you forgotten about the cartel? Just because Gus took his revenge doesn't mean he beat them. The season ended with all the bad guys (except Mike) out of the picture. I have a feeling more bad cartel dudes will show up.

I hope you are wrong about Hank helping Walt with the business. It would be interesting to see junior get involved. I cannot wait for the return of Breaking Bad.

rockinjoe profile image

rockinjoe Hub Author 5 months ago

Hi Breaking Wind I love your name!

For certain the cartel will be after Jesse and Mike-and most definitely dealing with Walt at some point. I would imagine they will be extra careful with Walt. He's been known to act crazy at times :)

You know...I started watching this show when it first premiered, but somehow I kept missing it and I forgot all about it.

BUT, it is an excellent series - I think I'm going to see if I can play catch up and add the last 3 seasons into my Netflix queue.

Thanks for reminding me about this great show.

SaulGoodman 5 months ago

- I'd love to hear more about this Madrigal Electromotive. What is their involvement in all of this?

- Gus' restaurants were all over NM,AZ,UT, and NV. That's a lot of territory that is up for grabs now that he's dead.

- More Gus backstory. Like Hank said in season 4, he couldn't find anything on Gus prior to 1986. Lot's of room there. And it would mean more Gus, an awesome character.

I could go on and on, but I'm certain it will be excellent. Only two bad things about Breaking Bad. We'll have to wait to probably July to watch it, and if they split season 5 into two parts (seeing as there are 16 episodes) are they going to show the second half almost a year later or just a few months?

rockinjoe profile image

rockinjoe Hub Author 5 months ago

@Rachelle Williams You HAVE to catch up. It just keeps getting better and more addictive each show.

rockinjoe profile image

rockinjoe Hub Author 5 months ago

I can't believe I have the genuine Saul Goodman posting in my thread. It's truly an honor, sir. Have you been to Madrigal's website yet?

http://madrigalelectromotive.com/

I still think Mike should run the restaurants. He can be such a bastard.

Man, I really hated to see Gus leave the show. He's going to be missed, You're right. Back story would be a good quick Gus fix for the fans who already miss this class villain.

I hope they don't end up splitting the final season. In fact this is an unusual wait for a TV show's return. We're 7 and a half months away as it is.

Douglas 5 months ago

I hope for suffering for all concerned, despite an immediate end to the cooking and selling. No one (cartel) is chasing them. No one cares. Walt again shows hubris by "kicking the hornets nest" of the cartel in some way (maybe assaulting a local dealer), but in the end, he is out with his money and his head.

So we have a collapsing system. At the center is Walt withering from cancer and dying. But we need a deeper moral fix. Wife Skyler is now ethically adrift and makes a series of bad choices leading to her unraveling, random, sort of like Hank's wife's shoplifting choices. Son Walter Jr. goes on in a similar random downward path. Extra mysterious because he does not KNOW of the drug business his dad is in...or DOES he?

Anyway, they drank the Koolaid and they all have to die...or DO they?

rockinjoe profile image

rockinjoe Hub Author 5 months ago

Hi Douglas, Thanks for the comment. I for one believe that the Cartel is not going to let Walt or Jesse rest. They obviously want Jesse and Mike dead. And cooking? I don't think they can go back to a Winnebago after all they've been through. The Cartel wants their blue meth. (If you recall, Jesse produced a batch that was 96% pure.)

I think Walter Jr. is more on the ball than his parents give him credit for. I still think he's going to be involved in the business and NOT in a good way.

Of course, what could end in a good way on Breaking Bad?

ecb 5 months ago

Are you all certain Gus is dead? The radio said three fatalities, but there was the old woman in the adjoining room. I wouldn't count Gus out just yet.

Click the link below. Gus looks very dead to me. You really think he survived that thing?

TineV311 5 months ago

What was the deal with the White Lily (or whatever it's called) plant showed at the end at Walt's house... I didn't understand that. Walt did not poison Brock?

ItsJesseBITCH 4 months ago

First of all, the cartel is gone. All dead. Or at least anyone who had beef with Gus. That was the whole point of season 4. Gus systematically killing off everyone who betrayed him, then leaving Hector to die a slow death (jokes on Gus though...FACE = OFF!).

Now with Gus dead, and anyone in the cartel who is important dead, the only person Walt has to worry about is Hank. Season 5 will begin with Hank slowly figuring out that Walt and Jesse are the masterminds behind it all. About half way through, Jesse will find out everything Walt has done to him (letting Jane die, poisoning Brock, etc.) and turn on him. Jesse teams up with Mike. It all ends with the Jesse, Mike, Walt and Hank standing at the four corners monument in a good old (new) mexican stand-off. Jesse kills Walt, Hank kills Jesse, Mike kills Hank and walks off into the sunset like the bad-ass that he is.

The End

rockinjoe profile image

rockinjoe Hub Author 4 months ago

Hi ItsJesseBITCH,

I like your vision. In fact, I like it a lot. I hope they're able to end this series in 16 episodes while tying up loose ends for the whole cast. Walter, Jr., Skylar, Saul, Marie, etc.

Time will tell. I can't wait!

Omaha Ben 4 months ago

I see that hank figures out tha Heisenberg is Walt and being that figurehead that hank is he wants to turn Walt in. But Walt says "hank you have no credit ability as I have paid for your medical bills with drug money." mike dies in Mexico when the doctors find out that Gus is dead. Walt and hank frame the operation on mike. Which would easy being that Heisenberg was described as an old bald man.. Walt then tells Jesse everything he has done to wrong Jesse and tells Jesse to leave town for good as the DEA close in on him. Walt dies of cancer. Jesse heads for Oregon as he said he would do in season 1. Hank busts the whole thing open and is promoted to DC where sky jr and Hollie move as well.. There is a flash forward where walt jr is in chemistry school at Georgetown and the series ends

rockinjoe profile image

rockinjoe Hub Author 4 months ago

Hi Omaha Ben

That is a KILLER ending. Excellent. I could easily live with that outcome. Thanks for posting!

Omaha Ben 4 months ago

Or Walt writes a note to jr and junior reads everything his late father did and then jr reads it under a tree in the main quad then goes to chemistry class and were left to wonder if Walt jr will break bad or not

rockinjoe profile image

rockinjoe Hub Author 4 months ago

another killer ending, omaha ben....they should have looked you up when they were hiring writers.

Ang 3 months ago

Here are some definets. Cartel comes after mike and jessie and most likely Walt. Hank definetly figures out walt is the real Heisenberg. I think he will find a way to cover it up though because he has a soft spot for Walt. Cancer will come back and ultimately be what does him in. I think Jessie will live. He seems to be a survivor. Who knows...maybe he'll end up going back to school in chemistry. Skylar will move on and focus her energy on her children. As far as how it will all play out exactly who knows... We will find out soon enough.

rockinjoe profile image

rockinjoe Hub Author 3 months ago

Hi ang, I would much rather see Walt killed by a bullet than the cancer. He's the hero of the series and having him eliminated by his disease is not only a downer, but kind of a lousy way to end the series,

I just have this weird feeling that after Walt's death, the meth business will continue with Skyler running it. Don't forget what a wiz she is with money.

Looks like we'll wait until July 2012 to find out.

Viral 3 months ago

Walt's cancer returns and he ends up having to fley from hank and/or the Germans, the cartel, or Jessie. Walt and his family do the getaway program and end up on a seemingly deserted island. The islands mysterious powers causes Walt's cancer to go back into remission, turns skyler into a smoke monster, and Walt jr into a polar bear, and the baby grows up as a weird French speaking woman.

rockinjoe profile image

rockinjoe Hub Author 3 months ago

I was with you all the way until you made the baby a weird French speaking woman. That's just ridiculous.

during season 3 and early 4, most of those scenerios did cross my mind! great minds think alike I guess. My favorite is Hank breaking bad! I want it to happen sooo badly, and have since season 1 episode2!

Viral was kidding. He tried to mix Breaking Bad with LOST but failed at doing so.

dstsportsfan 3 months ago

The season begins with a full investigation of the laundry facility where hanks will uncover some evidence that will bring him one step closer to uncovering Walt. Walt and Jesse set up shop at the car wash. Mike returns to the states and discovers what happened to Gus. The cartel will set the wheels in motion sending new bad ass assassins to take out anyone and everyone involved in gus's operation. Jesse stops Mike from killing Walt and Mike becomes their muscle and puts together a contingent and master plan that finally takes the cartel out of the equation. Gus's past will be examined. Gus had major connections with the Chilean Government which is why no records could be found on him. It's revealed that Gus was part of the Chilean Government, but decided to get in the drug business as that is where the money is. Remember Hank uncovered this mysterious German Companies involvement with Gus's laundry facility. There is a major organization in Germany that isn't happy about Gus's death and all of the sudden there are German bad asses on the block investigating what happened. Walt strikes a deal with them and plans to put together a chain of car washes with the organizations backing. In the end a botched assassination on Walt leaves junior dead. By this time hank has put the peaces together and plans to turn Walt in as a result of juniors death. Mike finds out and kills hank. Skyler moves to Colorado. Jesse finds out about walts involvement in janes death and the poisoning of the kid and kills Walt. Shortly after the DEA takes jesse down. Jesse reaches out to Jane's father who visits him in jail and Jesse tells him everything and breaks down in a very dramatic moment. Years later we see Jesse getting out on parol with a clean slate and we fast forward years later as jesse is a high school chemistry teacher.

Gus will be an even bigger story in death. There being no traces of his past in Pinochet's Chile are telling... and then the shadowy multinational corporation from Germany... also very revealing. My prediction neo-Nazis!

Gus was likely an enforcer within Pinochet's inner circle, hence the reason he did not exist before moving to Mexico in the 80's, which incidentally coincides with the fall of the Pinochet regime. You need to look no further than the history of Colonia Dignidad to know the history under Pinochet and its connection to Nazis fleeing Germany after WW2 to know the importance of the reference. Just what was Gus doing with the hundreds of millions of dollars (or more) made throughout his Narcotics trade? The end will be truly epic, and involving a global modern Nazi conspiracy. Once again Walter will gain the upper hand, being consistently ultimately the smartest guy in the room. He may die in the end (final episode) but will not be by cancer, and he will be the baddest of the bad guys, but we will love him more for it.

hiphop 3 months ago

Does anyone else envision a Saul Goodman show of his own? I think that would be epic!
